PM asks central localities to promote regional connectivity

THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Localities in the central region need to pay special attention to enhancing regional connectivity in their development policies, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc said at a meeting of the Council for the Central Key Economic Region in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế on February  一 五.

He ordered provinces represented by the council, namely Thừa-Thiên Huế, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi and Bình Định, to focus on marine tourism by building coastal roads and linking tourist ports.

The PM also suggested upgrading airports to attract more international tourists.

Stressing the importance of perfecting the institutional system, the Government leader asked the council to study new mechanisms to address shortcomings in management and take appropriate measures to facilitate socio-economic development.

He urged central localities to double efforts to make more considerable contributions to the country’s tourism development. 

The PM reco妹妹ended improving the operational efficiency of processing and manufacturing industrial parks and promoting the application of the fourth industrial revolution and automation in production.

He demanded central localities make better use of land and human resources in socio-economic development, stressing that the State only supports the construction of importation infrastructure such as airports and ports.

Established  二 二 years ago, the Council for the Central Key Economic Region covers over  二 七, 八00 square kilometres with a population of  六. 五 million, making up  八. 四 五 percent and over  七 per cent of the nation’s total area and population, respectively.

The region has favourable conditions to set up economic and trade corridors connecting the north and the south and serves as a gateway to the sea of the East-West economic corridor linking Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia with international navigation routes through the East Sea (internationally called the South China Sea) and the Pacific.

To date, the region has formed seven major urban clusters, namely Huế, Đà Nẵng, Hội An, Tam Kỳ, Vạn Tường, Quảng Ngãi and Quy Nhơn with tourism and trade service centres.-VNS
